Senior Agri-Business Underwriter
We are currently looking for a highly motivated, service-orientated professional to fill the vacancy for the existing position of Full-Time Senior Agri-Business Underwriter. Reporting to the Team Leader of Agri-Business Underwriting as a vital member of the dynamic Underwriting Team, you will work closely with our broker partners to provide insurance solutions that meet the changing needs of our Agri-Business consumers.
Who You Are
- Graduate from a recognized diploma program in Insurance or a strong equivalent combination of experience, education and training
- Experience in the P&C industry, with 5+ years’ experience in farm underwriting
- Background knowledge in agricultural and/or farm operations
- CIP designation, actively pursuing, or willing to obtain
- Detail oriented and well organized professional, with strong analytical decision making and negotiation skills
- Innovative thinking skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision, or as part of a team
- Ontario Driver’s License and access to transportation
What You'll Be Doing
- Quote, underwrite and issue new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations for all aspects of farm property policies
- Identify opportunities to up sell products, coverage and limits
- Review risk inspections and create risk management recommendations
- Build strong relationships with brokers
- Regularly provide mentoring, guidance, and technical expertise to other Underwriters
- Consistently demonstrate strong communication, decision making and negotiation skills
- Participate in Industry and Ag related events, including trade shows
- Keep current on industry and market trends as they pertain to agri-business
Compensation:$70,500 – $95,500 (NOTE: this range includes salary and other non-discretionary compensation)
